Six sessions, 2 1/2 hours per class, on Tuesdays September 12 through October 17 from 1 to 3:30 pm at CMH.

The series guides people with Type 2 diabetes to develop lifestyle strategies that improve their well-being. Participants learn the following to manage symptoms like fatigue, hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia, pain and stress:

  • Healthy eating, nutrition and exercise strategies for endurance and strength.
  • Techniques to address frustration, fatigue, isolation and poor sleep.
  • Appropriate use of medications.
  • How to work effectively with family and health providers.
  • How to take control, manage the condition and enjoy your life.

Trained peer leaders facilitate the interactive sessions, encouraging the development of weekly action plans and goals. The workshop series is part of the self-management evidence-based programs created by Stanford University and offered across the U.S.

The cost is $20 based on a sliding fee scale, and open to adults with diabetes, family members and caregivers. No one will be denied participation.
