Urgent Care FAQs
When should I go to urgent care versus the ER?

The ER is for serious and life-threatening conditions, while urgent care is for issues that are serious enough to need attention soon, but not an emergency.
Go to the ER immediately for:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
  • Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Signs of stroke (B.E.F.A.S.T. balance loss, eyesight change, facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, time to call 911)
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Head injury with confusion, vomiting, or loss of consciousness
  • Trauma and injuries (vehicle accidents, falls, suspected broken bones, joint dislocations, severe burns, deep lacerations)
  • Seizures
  • Sudden, severe headache
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • High fever with rash, stiff neck, or confusion
  • Poisoning or drug/alcohol overdose
