Hospital Respiratory Therapists are responsible for administering oxygen/support therapy and therapeutic drug treatments; records changes in patient progress; may need to provide life support including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and continuous ventilation of patients with mechanical ventilators; performs cardiopulmonary assessment and maintains airway care; maintains equipment; participates in continuing education; provides patient/family education in all aspects of therapy and equipment use.
Requirements: Graduate of CoARC- accredited Associates degree program in Respiratory Therapy. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care required. Licensed in Minnesota. Current registration with Minnesota Board of Medical Practice is required which enables the use of Registered Respiratory Care Provider. Experience as a Respiratory Therapist and hands on experience in a hospital setting, including ICU and volume ventilator care is necessary, as well as all clinical aspects of respiratory care; Clinical evaluation and assessment skills are required for all age groups of patients served by the facility including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Strong communication skills required. Active member of the AARC, MSRC, and NBRC as a RRT or CRT preferred.
