Visitor Guidelines at CMH

A network of support is important during a hospitalization. CMH encourages visitors to support their loved one in an appropriate and uplifting way. Visitors including a spouse, partner, or other family member or friend are welcome with the patient’s consent. Patients have the right to withdraw or deny consent at any time.

When am I allowed to visit?

Visiting hours are flexible to allow for the patient to experience support and socialization throughout the length of their stay.

Suggested visiting hours are 10 AM-8:30 PM daily. However, the patient and their care team may expand or limit visitors depending on individual need.

Are children allowed to visit?

Yes, children are allowed to visit and must be accompanied by an adult visitor.

Am I allowed to visit if I’m sick?

For the safety of all patients at CMH, visitors who are currently sick are not allowed to visit. This includes minor illnesses like the common cold.

Where do I park at the hospital?

Visitors may park in the main hospital lot and enter through the main entrance (under the big blue awning). Parking is always free.

Can I bring food or gifts to a patient?

Gifts and treats bring cheer. For the patient’s safety, please check with the nurse on duty to ensure that the patient does not have any dietary allergies or restrictions. Latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital. Flowers are fine, but please be considerate of people with allergies or sensitivity to odors.

Is there a cafeteria?

Yes! CMH’s Riverside Cafe is open to the public on weekdays. See the cafe’s full hours of operation here.

Gift Shop

CMH’s Gift Shop is staffed by members of our Volunteer Services Organization (VSO) with all proceeds directly benefiting projects funded by the VSO. Current Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

What does the gift shop offer?

The Gift Shop is stocked with unique gifts sourced from local small businesses and crafters, including woodwork by Cloquet High School students, local maple syrup, handmade jewelry, and more.

Where is the gift shop located?

The Gift Shop is located on 1st Floor by the elevators, just before you enter the inpatient unit. Park in the main lot, enter through the main doors, and take a right. The Gift Shop will be on your left.

Does the Gift Shop accept credit cards?

Yes, the Gift Shop accepts credit cards.

How does the Gift Shop support CMH?

All proceeds from the Gift Shop benefit CMH’s Volunteer Service Organization (Auxiliary), which grants funds to hospital and clinic initiatives, including an annual scholarship for students pursuing careers in the healthcare field.

Riverside Café

Every weekday, CMH’s Riverside Café serves various meal and snack options to employees, visitors, and the public.

Our Nutrition Services team works hard to feature a rotating menu of delicious specials and fan favorites (including, pasta bar, taco bar, Asian bar and homemade desserts). Self-serve, to-go, and snack options are available.

Riverside Café Hours

Breakfast: 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM

Lunch: 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Grab & Go: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM

The cafe is located on the Ground Floor. Visitors are always welcome.
