Preparing for your surgery
To ensure your safety and comfort, we’ve outlined pre-surgery guidelines for all types of procedures. More specific instructions—including when you can eat or drink before your surgery—will be given by a nurse via phone call seven days prior to your surgery.
- Take a shower or bath before coming to the hospital
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes
- Leave all valuables at home, including jewelry, wedding rings, and cash
- Bring any paperwork your surgeon gave you
- Contact lenses and glasses will be removed before your surgery. Please bring a case for safekeeping.
- If you use any home medical equipment—such as a CPAP for sleep apnea or continuous glucose monitor for diabetes—please bring it with you
