Respiratory Therapy

Inpatient therapy

Respiratory Therapy helps manage inpatient care at CMH, including:

• Giving medications through a nebulizer (fine mist) or other inhalers
• Managing high flow oxygen therapy for respiratory failure, post-operative recovery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and more
• Chest physiotherapy to clear mucus and secretions from the lungs
• Monitoring breathing on a ventilator
• Educating on smoking sensation and inhaler use

Outpatient therapy

Complete Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) is available to assist in diagnosing a wide range of respiratory diseases, including:

• Asthma
• COPD
• Neuromuscular disorders

Pulmonary Function Testing can also be used to qualify a patient for home oxygen, provide a pre-employment screening for certain occupations, or provide clearance for surgery.
