CMH is a Level IV Trauma Center

For a severely injured person, the “golden hour”—the time between sustaining an injury and receiving definitive care—is the most important predictor of survival.

CMH is committed to excellence in trauma care. Our doctors, nurses and staff have undergone an intensive process to achieve a Level IV Trauma designation from the Minnesota Department of Health. Level IV Trauma Centers are equipped to provide advanced trauma life support (ATLS)—including evaluation, stabilization, and diagnosis—before transferring patients if needed.

Other elements of Level IV Trauma Centers include:

• Emergency Department facility, 24-hour laboratory services, and readily-available trauma nurses and physicians.
• Critical-care services and surgery.
• Comprehensive patient assessment and prevention efforts.
