The NP / PA provides comprehensive bedside assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosis, prescription of pharmacologic agents and treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies as well as documentation of patient care in patients over the age of 17. The NP / PA will work with the interdisciplinary care team in coordinating discharge planning and facilitate the patient's transfer of care back to the primary provider or to a higher level of care. The NP / PA will consult and make referrals to physicians and other members of the health care team as appropriate Participate in call coverage from home with tele-hospitalist service (optional) providing primary coverage at night. Additional responsibilities include consulting on orthopedic, general surgery, urology, and occasionally OB/GYN patients requiring pre-operative evaluation and/or management of medical comorbidities.
Requirements: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license (or eligible) and certification (or eligible to be certified) as a FNP, ANP, or ACNP, or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (or eligible). Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges. Prefer at least 1 year of hospital experience. Prefer FNP applicants to have had RN experience in medicine and ICU care. ACLS & BLS. Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
