Medical Laboratory Scientists. Multiple full-time (1.0 FTE) positions available. All shifts, including weekends.

Community Memorial Hospital Association seeks Medical Laboratory Scientists in Cloquet, Minnesota. Perform tests in a medical laboratory to provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include: operation of highly technical laboratory equipment, conducting quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid; obtain blood specimens by venous, arterial and micro-puncture techniques, using written guidelines established by laboratory policy; adhere to correct specimen gathering, documentation, storage, and distribution procedures; collection and processing of specimens inclusive of: urine, sputum, blood, feces, exudates, secretions, etc.; collection and testing of nasal, NP and throat swabs; perform routine test procedures in all departments inclusive of: Chemistry, Hematology, Bacteriology, Blood Bank, Urology, and Coagulation; complete tests within specified turnaround time, to include STATS, ASAP, etc. as defined by laboratory policy; perform determined laboratory tests ensuring absolute accuracy of test results; correlate normal and abnormal test results with clinical findings in relation to possible discrepancies and confirmation of abnormal results; perform quality control activities, ensuring accurate laboratory results and high quality patient care; perform quality control with all test procedures with the ability to meet quality control criteria as defined in the procedures manuals; documentation on quality control charts with responsibility for daily review; follow back-up procedures whenever quality control criteria cannot be met, as defined in the procedure manuals; participate in periodic unknown proficiency testing required by government and accrediting agencies when requested, with acceptable results (i.e., + or - two S.D.) as reviewed by the Laboratory Director and Medical Director; participate in the annual CMH Competency Program; participate in the quality assurance program in the laboratory as defined in the procedure manual; call all panic values to the attention of the physician or charge nurse, having checked all possibilities of error before issuing the report; perform routine charting and filing of patient results in timely, efficient manner; maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure proper function and availability; work with rotating department assignments and/or fill in where staffing needs are determined; contribute to the goals and/or missions of the laboratory department and CCMH; attend department meetings and/or inservices as scheduled by Laboratory Director; maintain current knowledge of laboratory procedures and developments through current literature and/or attendance of workshops, seminars; other related duties as assigned. Community Memorial Hospital Association has one main campus located in Cloquet, Minnesota, which includes a hospital and clinic. Medical Laboratory Scientists will primarily work at the hospital, but may also occasionally work at our clinic located on the same campus. Must have proof of legal authority to work in the U.S.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a closely related field.

The rate of pay for these positions is determined by a CBA. Per the CBA, the rate of pay for these positions ranges from $30.63 per hour to $37.67 per hour.
