The pharmacy technician is an extension of the pharmacist, working under his/her direct supervision, to facilitate the control of the distribution of medication. Deliver medications and exchange medication trays. Fill medications as specified on patient profiles or fill lists. Pick up and return/credit medication upon patient discharge. Responsible for IV sterile compounding and IV chemotherapy preparation, and knowledge of sterile technique. Prepackage oral tablets and liquid medications in unit dose containers. Process patient charges. Filling, delivering, crediting, and reporting involved with automated dispensing cabinets.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MN Board of Pharmacy. Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or equivalent is required.
