The Director of Diabetes Education plans, organizes, implements, evaluates and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient and Outpatient Diabetes Self-Management, Education Programs (DSMES) and Outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Program. Ensures the program is in compliance with American Diabetes Association (ADA) standards to maintain accreditation, CMS Conditions of Participation, MDH and local guidelines/regulations.
Requirements: Registered Dietitian (RD) credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Minimum of bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred. Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) is required. Academic and/or experiential preparation in program management. Academic and/or experiential preparation in the care of people with a chronic disease. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as RN or RD in medical field. Telehealth experience preferred. Knowledge of diabetes medications, glucose monitoring technologies, and insulin pumps preferred.
