The Diabetes & Nutrition Educator is responsible for providing group and/or individual education to patients, their families and appropriate support systems about diabetes self-management, medical nutrition therapy and related issues. This may include but are not limited to diabetes education, obesity and weight management, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, malnutrition / weight gain, cancer and nutrition therapy, gastrointestinal disorders and nutrition therapy, or healthy diet. The Diabetes & Nutrition Educator will collaborate with other health care team members across several departments to plan and deliver quality patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The Diabetes & Nutrition Educator will be responsible for providing diabetes and nutrition education to patients, staff and the community per current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Requirements: Registered Dietitian (RD) with CDR Certification and valid MN state license. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Nutrition and Dietetics. Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a diabetes specialty and/or educating patients with diabetes. Certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Educator Specialist (CDCES) preferred or willing to obtain certification within two (2) years of hire. Proficiency in variety of glucose monitoring technologies and insulin delivery systems preferred. Strong skills in utilizing technology (use of Internet, Microsoft Office, and email)
