Verify patient’s financial status to assess propensity to pay or eligibility for financial assistance. Inform patients of financial assistance programs and evaluate needs. Review and monitor self pay accounts for compliance with facility policies. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards as well as organization policies and procedures.
Requirements: Minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of billing and collections, preferably in a healthcare setting. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with tactful, courteous customer relations; must have ability and working knowledge of typing skills, calculator, computer word processing skills; demonstrated problem solving in routine and urgent situations; requires high level of interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact, courtesy and positive approach methods; competent written and verbal communication skills, be capable of effectively interacting with all levels of staff; must have basic mathematical comprehension and be accurate in basic mathematical calculations. Have certification as a MNsure Navigator or the ability to become certified within one year. May require occasional travel for continuing education.
