Whether you’re recovering from an unexpected illness/injury or from a planned surgery, here’s what you’ll need to know about your stay at CMH.
CMH’s 25-bed inpatient floor is a comfortable, quiet place to recover. All patient rooms are private with an adjoining, accessible private bathroom. The inpatient floor also has a spacious family meeting/waiting room.
Depending on your personal needs, your care team may include: a hospitalist (doctor), nursing staff, a social worker, respiratory therapist, pharmacist, and specialized rehabilitation providers such as an occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech therapist, or wound care provider.
This multi-disciplinary team meets daily to discuss your progress and care plan to ensure you have the resources you need to recover.
CMH’s Nutrition Services department provides three meals a day, including a variety of build-your-own and daily special options. Our registered dietitians will ensure that any special dietary needs are taken care of.
Support from your loved ones is an important part of your recovery. Patients are welcome to have visitors. Recommended visiting hours are 8 AM-4 PM.
We know you love your furry companion(s), but no pet visitors are allowed in the hospital for safety reasons.
During your hospitalization, your doctor may recommend occupational therapy (OT) to help you improve your ability to perform everyday tasks and daily mobility. An illness or injury can make it challenging to do things you once did, like getting dressed or cooking. Your doctor may also suggest physical therapy to enhance your mobility. Our experienced physical therapists (PTs) will guide you through exercises designed to decrease pain and increase strength, flexibility, and balance. We work with patients of all ages and can help you learn how to use mobility equipment such as crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs.
After you are discharged from the hospital, your doctor may recommend continuing to see an occupational therapist or physical therapist on an outpatient basis.
A hospital stay can be a stressful or overwhelming experience—especially if it’s a lengthy stay. CMH’s Volunteer Services Organization provides patients with activities to provide leisure and a sense of community. Volunteers are available to play card games, read, or simply chat with patients.
Advance Care Planning is the process of preparing for a time when you may not be able to make your own medical decisions. Advance Care Planning allows you to voice your medical choices and designate a health care agent in a legal document called a Health Care Directive.
A Health Care Directive is a legal document of medical preferences signed and witnessed or notarized. This document allows you to indicate medical preferences, including:
A health care agent (sometimes referred to as a power of attorney for healthcare) is a trusted person you choose to make healthcare decisions on your behalf if you become unable to.
What types of decisions can a health care agent make?
