Dr. Louks-Smith grew up in Duluth and completed her training in the Twin Cities. She and her husband returned to the Northland to raise their son and found Cloquet to be a wonderful place to put down roots due to the high level of community engagement and wonderful people that live here. Dr. Louks-Smith chose to practice Family Medicine because it offers the opportunity to get to know whole families and address all the social determinates of health. Her approach is to meet patients where they are at and to educate on the root cause of chronic illness, in hopes to slow or reverse disease progression. Lifestyle medicine is her passion, and she believes there is no better feeling than being able to help people come off or reduce medication burden through lifestyle changes. In her free time, when she’s not hurrying to hockey, baseball and soccer games, she loves to walk her rescue mutt Tony Danza, read, travel, and experience live music and sporting events.
